Aunt Anne's Spaghetti Sauce
For as long as I can remember, this has been my favorite spaghetti sauce recipe. Not only is it fairly easy to make, but it has a wonderful, rich flavor that I think you will love!

Spaghetti Sauce
- 2 28 oz cans whole tomatoes with juice
- 2 12 oz cans tomato paste
- 6 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp sweet basil
- 1 tsp sweet basil (in addition to tbsp)
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp red pepper
- 3/4 cup sugar
Meatballs
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 lbs sweet italian sausage
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup dried bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp sweet basil
Preparing the Spaghetti Sauce
Combine the entire contents of 1 can of the whole tomatoes and 1 can of the tomato paste, along with all spices in a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Pour into a pot.
Blend another can of the whole tomatoes and paste, and pour into the pot.
Bring contents of the pot to a boil.
Reduce heat and allow to simmer for 2 hours, stirring often.
If consistency appears to be too thick, you can add water.
Preparing the Meatballs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Thoroughly mix all ingredients by hand.
Form into golf-ball sized portions.
Place meatballs onto a baking sheet and cook for approximately 20 minutes. (Check to see if cooked throughout)
