Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup onion diced
  • 2-1/2 lbs ground beef lean
  • 4 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 14.5 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes diced
  • 1 14.5 ounce can tomatoes diced
  • 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 4 ounce can diced green chiles

Method

  1. Heat the oil over medium-high heat using a dutch oven, skillet or non-stick pan. Add chopped onion and cook 4 - 5 minutes, until translucent. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook for 7 - 10 minutes, breaking apart as you cook. The ground beef should be browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients, stirring to combine, and reduce to low. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours, until desire thickness.
