Hamburger Buns

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 4 tbsp dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 6-1/4 cups flour

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, add yeast to the warm water and allow to dissolve. Whisk in the sugar, salt, eggs, and shortening.
  • Stir in the flour and knead 7 minutes, then let the dough rise for 30 minutes (or until doubled).
  • Cut the dough in half, and then cut each half into 16 parts. Roll all 32 parts into balls and place onto a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
  • Allow the buns to rise on the cookie sheets until tripled in size, or they reach the size of a hamburger bun.
  • Bake at 350 F for 10-12 minutes on the lower rack of the oven.
