Ingredients
- 2 cups warm water
- 4 tbsp dry yeast
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 6-1/4 cups flour
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, add yeast to the warm water and allow to dissolve. Whisk in the sugar, salt, eggs, and shortening.
- Stir in the flour and knead 7 minutes, then let the dough rise for 30 minutes (or until doubled).
- Cut the dough in half, and then cut each half into 16 parts. Roll all 32 parts into balls and place onto a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Allow the buns to rise on the cookie sheets until tripled in size, or they reach the size of a hamburger bun.
- Bake at 350 F for 10-12 minutes on the lower rack of the oven.
