Flour Tortillas

Ingredients
  

  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup warm water

Instructions
 

  • Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl, using a whisk.
  • Add vegetable oil and warm water to the dry ingredients.
  • Mix until it starts to come together into a ball.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until it becomes smooth and soft. (1 to 2 minutes)
  • Divide the dough into 8 even parts and shape into balls.
  • Cover, and let rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Place each dough ball onto a lightly floured surface and roll out until it is very thin. (under 1/2 inch)
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Place one tortilla into the skillet and cook for 1 to 2 minutes on the first side. Flip once the bottom has golden brown spots and the top starts to bubble and puff up.
  • Flip your tortilla and cook the other side until you see golden spots (30 seconds).
  • Repeat with the remaining tortillas. Make sure to keep your tortillas lightly covered to prevent them from drying out until you are ready to serve.
