Dinner Rolls

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water or milk warm
  • t tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1-1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar optional
  • 4 - 5 cups all purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 egg
  • butter

Instructions
 

  • Mix warn water, yeast and sugar in a medium bowl. Allow the mixture to sit 5 - 10 minutes, until frothy.
  • Add oil, salt and 4 cups flour. Mix well, adding additional flour if the mixture is too wet.
  • Knead the dough for 5 - 10 minutes.
  • Cover and let sit for approximately 1 hour, or until mixture has double in size.
  • Punch down, and then shape into rolls
  • Place on cookie sheet, and allow to rise approximately 45 minutes, or until doubled in size
  • Beat 1 egg, and brush lightly over the top of the rolls, being careful not to deflate the dough
  • Heat oven to 350 F, and bake rolls 15 - 20 minutes, until rolls are golden brown
  • While hot, brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter
