Dinner Rolls

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water or milk warm
  • t tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1-1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar optional
  • 4 - 5 cups all purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 egg
  • butter

Method
 

  1. Mix warn water, yeast and sugar in a medium bowl. Allow the mixture to sit 5 - 10 minutes, until frothy.
  2. Add oil, salt and 4 cups flour. Mix well, adding additional flour if the mixture is too wet.
  3. Knead the dough for 5 - 10 minutes.
  4. Cover and let sit for approximately 1 hour, or until mixture has double in size.
  5. Punch down, and then shape into rolls
  6. Place on cookie sheet, and allow to rise approximately 45 minutes, or until doubled in size
  7. Beat 1 egg, and brush lightly over the top of the rolls, being careful not to deflate the dough
  8. Heat oven to 350 F, and bake rolls 15 - 20 minutes, until rolls are golden brown
  9. While hot, brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter
